Fibre optic installation splicing and testing Courses, along with essential health and safety:

Broadbandcareers is a recognised and highly regarded by business as a provider of meaningful accredited training across Europe. Our specialised training is focused on fields where there have been advances in technology.

Here is a brief description of the courses we have on offer in 2021:

LEVEL 6 OPTICAL FIBRE INSTALLATION AND SPLICING TECHNICIAN COURSE :
This Course is the most important courses to complete, by those wanting to get into a career focusing on fibre optic cabling, splicing and jointing

You may already be an engineer but have no formal qualification because you have completed on the job training. You may believe your years of experience qualify you. However more and more companies, councils, universities etc, are requiring companies, contractors, engineers and their employees to have a formal qualification, regardless whether you have completed manufacturers training.

This course is based on the industry standards, focused on what they need and is certified by SMART AWARDS. Which is approved by all the network operators such as BT, Eircom, Siro, Virgin and their 400 contractors. It requires a specific amount of practical activity.

This programme was presented to the Quality Qualifications Ireland as the 6N2050 level 6 Optic Fibre Installation award and was approved. Then when we put this course forward to the Telecommunications Network Operators Awarding body, Smart Awards, they also validated the course at level 6. CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION...

LEVEL 6 AIR BLOWN FIBRE OPTIC CABLE INSTALLATION TECHNICIAN COURSE:
With any demand comes an opportunity to enjoy the rewards. And what better time than now to gain the skills and qualifications you need for success as an Air Blown Fibre Optic Cable Installer.

Internet broadband access, voice over IP Telephony and video on demand services are currently provided by existing communication networks using copper wire and coax in that final connection to the customer.

Using techniques such as ADSL and VDSL has allowed telephone network operators, to claim bandwidth offerings of up to 50 Mega Bits per second. In reality the majority only ever deliver between 2 Mbps and 10 Mbps.

Older networks in Ireland, that are planned to be upgraded will have to provide much greater bandwidth for the home user and small business. As such, these networks will have to be based around Passive Optical (PON) or fibre deep type Network infrastructures. Which require bringing optical fibre to the home or as near the home as possible. CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION...

THREE DAY FIBRE OPTIC CABLING SPLICING AND TESTING FOR CONTRACTORS:
The course is suitable for individuals who want to start working in the fibre industry or those working in the industry who wish to improve their fibre skills. So that they can progress into fibre cabling and jointing, in particular work for a contractor.

This course is a practical hands on based programme. With almost everything other than the essential basic theory being practical exercises running over three days, and will be based on a specific job that a contractor needs an individual to do for them in the workplace. So essentially we get contractors to tell us exactly what they need and we will prepare their employees accordingly

This programme will give learners the key skills of splicing fibre, testing and terminating. This course is practice based supported with comprehensive training notes. .

You start with an introduction to fibre showing how fibre works, its benefits and how to calculate loss budgets. The purpose of which is to get you to understand the effects of work not done properly. That a right first time principle can only operate in this environment. CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION...

SMART AWARDS SA001 SAFETY OVERHEAD NETWORK OPERATORS COURSE:
***PRACTICALLY LEARN THE SAFETY REQUIREMENTS FOR LADDER SAFETY, POLE CHECKING AND CLIMBING AND AS REQUIRED BY NETWORK OPERATORS SUCH AS BT & CONTRACTORS*** This course provides learners with the knowledge and skills of the hazards and potential risks involved in working safely on ladders and wooden poles in a telecommunications environment.

It also helps learners’ awareness of compliance with health and safety legislation. The course tests learners’ knowledge, skills and understanding of dangers associated with these works and the safety precautions required while working on ladders and wooden poles.

This course ensures that leaners involved in working on ladders and poles are suitably trained and accredited to the National Occupational Standard (NOS). This course is aimed at those working on ladders and wooden poles in a telecommunications environment. THIS COURSE DOES NOT COVER ROOF TOP WORKING.

Without individuals taking this course, some operators such as BT will not allow individuals to work on their network. CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION...

SMART AWARDS SA002 SAFETY UNDERGROUND NETWORK OPERATORS COURSE:
PRACTICALLY LEARN THE SAFETY REQUIREMENTS FOR GAS TESTING AND LIFTING COVERS ON THE UNDERGROUND FIBRE NETWORK AS REQUIRED BY BT AND ALL CONTRACTORS

Learners are provided with the knowledge and skills to identify the hazards and potential risks involved in working safely on or in proximity to underground structures and operational buildings.

This accreditation particularly is aimed at those individuals who undertake work in a telecommunication (or similar utility) environment. It also enables learners to gain knowledge of compliance with Health and Safety legislation.

The course tests learners’ knowledge, skills and understanding of dangers associated with these works and the safety precautions required while working in the underground network. This course requires that individuals involved in gas testing in the network are suitably trained and accredited to the National Occupational Standard
